“Los Piratas” Jazz Ensemble

Los Piratas Jazz Ensemble is a by audition ensemble that provides an opportunity for students interested in performing music in the jazz idiom. Emphasis is placed on the development of swing, latin, rock, and contemporary styles of repertoire and performance. Parts are assigned on an individual basis and performances are emphasized. Los Piratas performs regularly in the local community and annually presents a “Big Band” salute that gains popularity each year. As a member of the Florida Bandmasters Association, the ensemble has received Superior ratings at the district level for 20 consecutive years. The ensemble has received Superior ratings at the state Jazz Band Festival on numerous occasions.
