The Wind Ensemble

The Wind Ensemble is composed of students who have displayed advanced musical fundamentals and are not yet prepared for membership in the Wind Orchestra. Membership is through placement and audition by the Director of Bands. As a member of the Florida Bandmasters Association, the Wind Ensemble has received Superior ratings at the District festival, thus qualifying for the State Music Festival 14 out of the last 15 years. At the State level Festival, the Symphonic Band has received a Superior rating 6 times, having been awarded the Otto Kraushaar Award twice from the FBA. In addition to FBA sanctioned festivals, the Symphonic band performs a Fall concert, Winter Concert, An American Music Gala, and participates in the annual “Colors of Sound” Spring performance. Emphasis is placed on refining musical and technical proficiency for promotion to the Wind Orchestra.
